Most pillow top mattresses provide you with softness and comfort as well as support.  Underneath the pillow top there is a quality supportive mattress, not just some stuffing.  You will feel the support of the underlying mattress all while enjoying the luxury of the pillowy top.

These mattresses might look just like regular mattresses.  In this case, the stuffing is sewn onto the top of the mattress and covered with the rest of it.  In other cases there is what looks like an actual gigantic pillow sitting atop the bed.  Both work in the same way and provide the same level of comfort.

Which ever way you decide to go, comfortable and price are the main factors. If you can afford it, the pillow top is probably the way to go. If you are looking for a cheaper quick fix, a pad would be your best bet.
